We recently asked our members what they would like to see from our social food nights, and we were delighted to receive 41 responses- a brilliant turnout and a really useful insight into what our community enjoys.
The biggest result was clear: 75.6% of respondents supported changing the name, with 31 of the 41 people backing The Supper Club.
So, from now on, the Curry Club is officially The Supper Club!
And don’t worry- curry isn’t going anywhere. In fact, Indian food was the most popular cuisine in the survey, selected by 56.1% of respondents. Chinese, Italian and Thai food also proved popular, giving us plenty of options for future evenings.
The message from members was simple: keep the choice varied and keep things flexible.
What did you tell us?
When it comes to food, members were keen to see a mixture of cuisines rather than sticking to one type of meal. Indian food came out on top, but almost every option received support when the responses from those happy to “go with the flow” were taken into account.
Cost is important too. The most popular specific budget was up to £30, selected by 46.3% of respondents, while 31.7% said they were happy to go with the flow.
When should we meet?
Thursday evening at around 7pm emerged as the strongest preference. Thursday was the most popular named day, while 7pm was the most popular specific time.
Keeping it local – but not too local
Members also told us they are happy to travel for a good night out.
Taffs Well, Pontypridd and Cardiff were among the most popular named locations, although more than half of respondents selected “go with the flow”. This gives us the flexibility to explore different venues while continuing to make the majority of evenings accessible to our core membership.
The survey also suggests that a monthly programme gives us the best balance. While bi-monthly was the strongest specific preference, the overall feedback showed that members want choice rather than obligation.
That’s exactly what The Supper Club is intended to be: something you can dip in and out of.
Come along when you can, enjoy some good food and good company, and don’t worry if you can’t make every month.
What’s next?
Based on what our members have told us, we’re going to:
- Run a monthly Supper Club programme
- Mix cuisines and styles, with curry nights featuring regularly
- Use Thursday evenings around 7pm as our preferred starting point where possible
- Keep local favourites in the programme while occasionally venturing further afield
- Make the evenings accessible to members from across the growing Marauders community
- Keep things relaxed- come when you can, skip it when you can’t
The survey has given us enough direction to make good choices while still allowing us to keep things interesting and respond to what our members want.
Most importantly, The Supper Club is about connection, conversation and enjoying time together.
So whether you’re joining us for a curry, trying somewhere completely new, or simply fancy an evening out with the Marauders community, we hope to see you there.
The Curry Club is dead. Long live The Supper Club!
And yes… curry will still be making regular appearances.
