The people behind Marauders
Marauders Men’s Health is powered by a passionate team of staff, volunteers and supporters who are committed to making a difference in men’s lives.
Together, they bring a wide range of experience, from lived experience to professional backgrounds in health and wellbeing, united by a shared belief that no man should have to face life’s challenges alone.
Chief Executive Officer
Cristie McMurray
Cristie holds a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy and has a background as a counsellor. She brings over 20 years’ experience in the charity sector, having led and developed organisations focused on health and wellbeing. Cristie is passionate about supporting men’s mental health and is excited to be part of the Marauders Men’s Health community.
Outside of work, she enjoys going to the theatre, spending time by the sea, and keeping up with her children.
Programme Manager
Jeremy Sims
Jeremy joined Marauders Men’s Health in 2022. The charity holds a special place in his heart, having supported him through significant personal lows. Because of his journey, he is able to empathise deeply with beneficiaries and offer genuine support. In addition to his personal involvement, he has served as a trustee, helping to shape the organisation’s structure and future direction. He is a well-organised individual who thrives on new challenges. Outside of his work with the charity, he enjoys walking and listening to music, and he remains excited about the future growth of Marauders Men’s Health.
Project Co-Ordinator
Greg Orrell
Greg Orrell joined the Marauders in 2021 as a volunteer leading walks across RCT, a role that has since evolved into his current position as Project Co-ordinator. He brings a high level of professional expertise from his career as a Procurement Manager, where he specialised in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management. Greg utilises these skills to ensure that the charity’s activities are well-organised, diverse, and operationally sound. As an early retiree, he is driven by a passion for the outdoors and the positive impact of community engagement. In his spare time, Greg is a keen cyclist and enjoys traveling and exploring the outdoors.

Jeff Beattie
Jeff Beattie is committed to improving men’s well-being through his role on the board of Marauders Men’s Health, which focuses on walking, exercise, and therapeutic conversation. He chairs the Board of Trustees, a role where he utilises the excellent organisational and communication skills honed previously as a teacher of English at a local comprehensive school. Furthermore, as Chair of his local community council, he currently navigates complex, competing interests, manages professional staff, and is known for his fairness and diplomacy.
Treasurer
Peter Balchin
Highly experienced Senior Management professional offering a wealth of commercial and proven strategic financial and management accounting skills demonstrated in a career spanning 40+ years. Successfully owned and managed own SME business for fifteen years until profitable sale. Key areas of expertise include business development, acquisitions and integration, implementation of financial controls, supplier management, credit control, financing and rationalisation of costs.
Secretary
Ron Davies
Ron joined Marauders in December 2025 as a volunteer after responding to an advert for administrative support. Since then, he has contributed to a number of the charity’s projects and recently accepted an invitation to join the Board of Trustees.
Ron previously worked as an IT Business Planner for British Gas before moving into self-employment as an IT trainer and consultant specialising in legal software for law firms. Married with two adult children, he lives locally in Beddau.
He brings a wealth of experience from charity volunteering at both local and national level. He is currently a trustee for Mid Glamorgan Scouts and a member of the service crew that maintains Mid Glamorgan’s outdoor activities centre near Pontsticill.
Vice-Chair
Paul Ford
Paul Ford brings 41 years of experience from the Ambulance Service, including 20 years as a Paramedic Training Manager, and remains an active member of a Mountain Rescue Team (since 1979). His background provides vast expertise in healthcare, statutory requirements, and safe outdoor operations. He is passionate about Marauders Men’s Health’s mission to provide a safe space for men to improve their well-being.
Trustee
John Payne
John Payne brings extensive experience in company management from his 23 years with a household furniture manufacturer, where he served as a fair and considerate senior manager before retiring nearly two decades ago. His major abilities include man management, administration, and compliance control, with a strong focus on essential record keeping and system reviews to support the charity’s growth. Having joined the Marauders almost four years ago, he uses his organisational expertise in his current role as Secretary.
Trustee
Nigel Pearce
Nigel Pearce is a retired police officer who brings an extensive background in law and finance, having worked as a financial advisor for several years. He has significant outdoor experience from his time with the Prince’s Trust, where he took young people on adventurous activities, including rock climbing, caving, gorge walking, navigation, and mountain biking. While at the Trust, he also led the Wales development awards, funding various courses and equipment. He joins the board to share his passion for the outdoors and his belief in the companionship and health benefits the charity provides, having personally experienced loneliness after retirement.
Trustee
Rob Roberts
Robert Roberts brings strong administrative, organizational, and IT skills from his 34 years of experience with BT and Openreach, 30 years of which were in office-based roles. His expertise includes proficiency in Microsoft Office, and he continues to develop his digital skills, including transitioning to Google Workspace, to enhance his effectiveness as a trustee. He became a trustee out of his enjoyment of working with the group and his strong desire to give back to the organisation.
