Arrival
We recommend arriving at least 15-20 minutes before the walk/event start time. It’s a great opportunity to meet the event leaders, register and catch up with your fellow Marauders before we start. Parking will be available at the club for anyone wishing to leave their car there before the walk.
Registration
You will be asked for your name, your mobile telephone number along with an emergency contact name and number. If you have any relevant medical conditions or medication that may be relevant to declare, please pass this information to the event leader during registration.
If you already have your Marauders digital ID, great – we’ll just scan you in. If not, you can pre-register and get your very own QR code beforehand here –

Morning Walk
We’ll start the day with our usual Marauders walk, this time exploring the beautiful Merthyr Mawr and Ogmore Downs areas.
Lunch at the Club
Following the walk, we’ll return to the club between 1:00pm and 2:00pm to enjoy our own packed lunches together.
Afternoon Activity
After lunch, we’ll head onto the lawns for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition. A number of club members will be on hand throughout the session to provide:
- Tea and coffee
- Guidance on the rules
- Coaching and support for anyone new to the game
All equipment will be provided. The only requirement is that participants wear flat-soled shoes or trainers.
We can accommodate up to 16 Marauders on the lawns at any one time, and we expect to play for around 2 hours. If everyone catches the bug, we can easily extend the session to 3 hours. At the end of the afternoon, we’ll hold a competition with some huge prizes up for grabs! If more than 16 people are interested, we can still accommodate additional participants. This will simply mean taking turns between games, which should work perfectly well.
Tea and Cakes
To round off the day, we’ll gather for tea, coffee and cakes before saying our goodbyes. We hope you’ll join us for what promises to be a fun and sociable day out!
Be Prepared – Health, Wellbeing & Weather
Participation in this event is entirely at your own risk, and it is your sole responsibility to ensure you are physically fit and well enough to take part. This includes being appropriately dressed for the event/weather and carrying any personal or emergency medication you may require during the activity.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome on this walk but must be carefully supervised at all times and kept on a lead when necessary. We may at times walk on/near to busy roads and/or in fields with livestock roaming free. Dogs are welcome too at the croquet club but they are not allowed on the lawns.
You can check out the croquet club website here – Website Link
